COW CAM: Pippi is a "MOOvie Star"
The 5,000 square foot Dairy Barn opened at the beginning of the 2007 season.
The barn has an open truss system with an all rough cedar interior, a stamped and stained concrete floor to simulate wood, a concession stand, the Cinemoo Theater, an office, a washroom and a loft for storage.
Staff care for six calves of the major dairy breeds, a Holstein (cow) and a Jersey heifer in and around the Dairy Barn. They also care for baby dairy goats.
The barn is home to Rosie, the incredible milking cow.
Rosie is a life-size Holstein dairy cow model. She along with an interactive life-size cow that shows how cows are milked by machines are highlights for children visiting the barn.
Rosie and the interactive life-size cow are helping staff teach visitors not only about where our food comes from but how important dairy farming is to our society.
This summer, staff will have milking demonstrations with Pippi, the Holstein cow. With the help of an amazing animal trainer and volunteer, Pippi has been known to perform a trick or two for her favorite treat - alfalfa!
Please plan on joining us in the Dairy Barn for Pippi’s performances, “Calf Washing Parties” and feeding time!
