of Residential Street Program
- 1988 - Broadmoor, 67th to 71st St. was the first project undertaking.
- 1990 - For the next nine years, project locations
were determined through a petition process. Petitions had to be
signed by at least 2/3 of the property owners abutting the streets .
- 1997 - The City
Council formed a Residential Street
Program Committee composed of 14 people with a variety of perspectives
and viewpoints to
study ways to fund construction of the remaining 28 miles of ditch streets.
- May 1998 - The Neighborhood Revitalization/Improvement-based approach
was finalized and approved in August by the Public
Works Committee.
- November 1998 - Residents passed a five-year, 1/8 cent
sales tax increase to provide approximately $10 million for the Residential
Street Program.
- April 2003 - Residents passed an extension of the 1/8 cent sales tax
increase by 71.5 percent.
- July 2005 - Council adopted Resolution 3467, committing the city to complete the previously scheduled ineligible residential streets.
