Fireworks Regulations

To make a complaint regarding the use or possession of fireworks,
call Police Dispatch 913/895-6300.

If it's an emergency, call
9-1-1

The use, possession and sale of fireworks is illegal inside the city limits of Overland Park.

Fireworks include sparklers, snakes, bottle rockets, firecrackers and more. For the complete ordinance, see chapter 5.40 of the Municipal Code.

Each year, Overland Park police officers respond to numerous complaints about illegal fireworks. Because of this, extra officers will be out, starting July 1.

Anyone found in possession of or discharging fireworks of any kind is subject to a fine of up to $500 and six months in jail.

If fireworks cause property damage, and investigators are able to identify the person responsible, that individual may be subject to criminal prosecution and a civil lawsuit.

Rather than risk injury and property damage, attend our annual Fourth of July Star Spangled Spectacular.

This popular event, seen by thousands, is sponsored by the City of Overland Park, Corporate Woods and the Overland Park Rotary Club.
