Lieutenant Gary Casida began his career with the Mission Township Police Department in 1959. Gary Casida was a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.

He is characterized by his quiet and gentle strength, yet he had a no-nonsense approach to law enforcement. Lieutenant Casida made many significant contributions to the Overland Park Police Department and is best known for his personal integrity. He fostered the professional reputation enjoyed by all Overland Park Police Officers, both then and now.

He shaped an entire generation of young officers by teaching them honesty and accountability. Because of his influence, many of these officers became leaders within the organization.

Lieutenant Casida left a legacy of integrity, honesty, and straightforward frankness-qualities that today constitute what are considered to be professionalism in the law enforcement community.
