The Prevention Division is committed to preventing injuries.

When a building is being built or renovated, the plans are reviewed carefully to be sure the proper building materials, fire protection and alarm systems are being included. After the building is occupied, it is assigned to a fire inspector based on it's location in the city and receives a fire inspection once a year.

Safety education classes are available for businesses and residents, ages 3 and up, on a variety of topics.

Fire investigations also are the responsibility of the Prevention Division.
