The city will hold its annual three-day golf tournament for boys and girls, Aug. 4-6, 2008, at the Overland Park Golf Club.
The tournament - the largest of its kind in the Midwest - is flighted based on age and gender in three divisions:
- 18-Hole, ages 14-17;
- 9-Hole, ages 11-13; and
- Par 3, ages 6-11
The entry fee is $25 for the first child; $15 for each additional family member.
Players received a memento for their participation, and the city provides
trophies to winners in each flight.
Applications from Overland Park residents will be accepted starting May 1. Applications from non-residents, May 19. They can be picked up at:
- City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive
- Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty
- Overland Park Golf Club, 12501 Quivira Road
- St. Andrews Golf Club, 11099 W. 135th St.
Entry forms must be returned, along with the registration fee, to the Overland Park Golf Club by 5 p.m. July 18.
The tournament is limited to 432 golfers: 120 each in the 18-Hole and 9-Hole divisions and 192 in the Par 3.
Participants will receive a starting time and general information by mail prior to the event.

* Every participant must include with the registration form proof of completion of a PGA sanctioned junior instruction program, rules clinic, junior league, scholastic competition, participation in the 2007 junior event or private instruction.
* Each participant must carry or pull his/her own golf bag. Caddies will not be permitted.
* Spectators are not permitted on the regulation course.
