Cunningham Heights, named after an original property owner and developer in the area, organized in the spring of 1995. Hickory Hills Park is located in the neighborhood and provides a location for some events and activities.
The Cunningham Heights group is strong with active participation at meetings and special events, and neighbors works closely with the assigned community policing officer. The group holds holiday parties each winter, sponsors plant exchanges in the spring, coordinates neighborhood garage sales, and designs a neighborhood newsletter.
In 1999, the neighborhood group was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to convert two ditch streets to curb and gutter. The group used CDBG funds from a previous grant to assist a neighborhood resident with upgrading her property. In 2001, the group added a neighborhood identification sign.
