In 2006, the city adopted a stormwater pollution ordinance prohibiting illicit discharge of pollutants to streams and rivers.
The ordinance, for example, requires restaurants to ensure grease is not spilled into storm drains, limits the use of soaps and detergents in outdoor power-washing, and requires swimming pool owners to dechlorinate pools before draining them.
This ordinance will help the city meet requirements of the Clean Water Act and those enforced by federal and state agencies.
