Every year, the city and the Environmental Advisory Council sponsor a "Clean Stream Day."
This event helps restore the natural beauty of Overland Park streams by removing trash and debris that flows through our city.
We are looking for individuals and groups - Scouts, neighborhood and outdoor clubs - to donate several hours to help us clean up our streams.
A substantial amount of trash and debris end up in our streams either from blowing or through the storm drainage system. The litter ends up on the banks and in brush along the streams.
Volunteers will pick up the debris, bag it and pile it so it can be disposed of properly by our Parks and Forestry crews.
If you would like to donate two or more hours, call Jim Twigg, special projects coordinator, at 913/895-6273.
