Overland Park has an agreement with Deffenbaugh Industries to provide a curbside compostables collection program so residents to dispose of their grass clippings, leaves and tree trimmings in an environmentally beneficial way.
Participants simply mark their bags of compostables with stickers and place them at the curb for collection. The materials are composted at a central site and program participants may pick up finished compost for their own use at no additional charge.
The cost of this program is $2.95 per month.
Try making your own compost pile to recycle your yard waste.
Remember: It is illegal in Overland Park to burn leaves or to blow, rake, or dump them in the street, storm drains or on the sidewalk.
