Pluggie Program for Kids

Pluggie the Robot: He moves; he talks; he likes pizza!

PluggiePluggie is a remote control robot that teaches fire safety to thousands of young children every year.

He visits schools and daycares all over the city teaching stop, drop and roll, don't touch things that burn, when you hear the smoke detector play leave and other topics appropriate for this age group.

Sometimes he brings a video, sometimes he brings his firefighter friend and sometimes he reads a book. He's usually always sleeping and has to be awakened by the children. He dreams about his favorite food, pizza, and he asks the children to wave at his cousins, who stand on the curbs, as they ride around town.

The program is about 30 minutes long and is appropriate for children age 3 to kindergarten. Children younger than 3 tend to be afraid of Pluggie, and those older than kindergarten usually spend more time trying to figure out how he works rather than listening to what he has to say.

Pluggie is very popular, especially during the school year, so while two weeks notice is the minimum we require, it is recommended that you schedule him 30 to 45 days in advance. He is usually booked for the months of September and October by the last week of August, so if you want a date during those months, now is not too early to schedule.
