This ACLS reaffirmation course is designed to review the information related to cardiovascular emergencies and resuscitation. This course meets the requirements of the American Heart Association as an ACLS reaffirmation course.
To participate in this program, you must:
- Be a healthcare professional
- Have current BLS healthcare provider card.
- Have current or recently expired (<90 days) ACLS provider status.
The class is taught by Judson Smith at the Fire Training Center, 12401 Hemlock. Cost is $125 (includes the current AHA ACLS textbook)

Required to successfully complete this program:
- Full participation in the ACLS reaffirmation program.
- Successfully perform all core ACLS skills and cases.
- Score at least 84 percent on the ACLS written examination.
Objectives:
- Understand and demonstrate the primary ABCD survey including:
- Early access
- Early CPR
- Airway
- Automated external defibrillation
- Manual defibrillation
- Understand and demonstrate the secondary ABCD
survey including:
- Airway
- Breathing
- Circulation
- Arrhythmias
- Pharmacology
- The algorithms
- Understand and demonstrate post resuscitation care
including:
- Indications, mechanism of action and dosing of the remaining algorithm medications.
- Indications for and operation of transcutaneous pacemakers.
- Understand and demonstrate "running a code" including:
- Knowledge of advanced directives and what they mean and how they should be responded to.
- The indications for ceasing resuscitative efforts.
- Techniques for "telling the living" and for critical incident debriefings.
