Out of approximately 12,000 street lights within Overland Park, 3,000
are maintained by Kansas City
Power & Light Co. The city maintains the remaining
9,000.
The city's street lights are a high-pressure sodium, energy efficient type designed and installed to provide a safe level of illumination on the roadways. The average light bulb lasts about four years.
Street light problems can be reported in two ways:
- E-mail PublicWorksMaintenance@opkansas.org with a description of the location of the problem and any other pertinent information.
- Call the Maintenance Division at 913/327-6600. Calls received 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, are handled by a dispatcher. During nights and weekends, callers can leave messages.
