In 1999, George Kandt was elected to the Overland Park City Council. He was re-elected in 2003 and appointed Council President in April 2005. Councilmember Kandt was again re-elected in April 2007.
He has been very active in the Overland Park community. In 1997, Kandt was a member of the Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory Committee, as well as a co-chairman of Leadership Overland Park. He was made Chairman of the committee in 1998.
Councilmember Kandt is the 2001-2002 Chairman for the Overland Park Rotary Foundation Youth Leadership Institute. He also is involved with the Overland Park Research, Education, and Information Foundation Board of Directors. Kandt also served on the Johnson County Project Impact Executive Committee in 1999 and 2000.
Councilmember Kandt is a Marketing Manager at Sprint PCS.
Councilmember Kandt has a bachelor's degree in political science and personnel administration from the University of Kansas and a M.B.A. with Honors from Oklahoma City University.
