After seven years as a member of the Planning Commission, Terry Goodman was elected to the City Council in April 2001 and again in April 2005. He was elected Council President in April 2006.
During his tenure on the Planning Commission, Goodman served as Chairman (1998-99), and as a member of the Site Plan Review Committee, Master Plan Committee and Ordinance Review Committee. He also has served on the Residential Streets Committee, the Blue Valley Urban Fringe Study Committee and the Infill and Redevelopment Guidelines Committee.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a degree in Secondary Education (history and political science), Goodman and his wife, Frances, have been residents of Overland Park for more than 30 years. Terry and Frances have two adult daughters.
Councilmember Goodman is serving his third term as chair of the Johnson County Library Board of Directors. He also served as chair of this group from 2002-04. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Mid-America Regional Council where he served on the Budget and Personnel Committee.
Terry is an active member of the Overland Park Rotary Club having served this group as President from 2003-04. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation, the Volunteer Center of Johnson County, and the Overland Park Development Corporation. He is a past member of the Public Safety Committee.
