Committee of the Whole - meetings include the City Council and Mayor and usually meet monthly or are called periodically for special topics.
Standing Council Committees: The City Council also has four standing committees to represent the four goal areas of the city. Most city business is reviewed by one or more committees before council consideration. Each councilmember serves on two of the following committees allowing for each committee to have a representative from each ward:
- Community Development
- Finance Administration and Economic Development (FAED)
- Public Safety
- Public Works
The mayor is an ex officio member of these committees. He appoints the members of standing council committees each year effective in May.
The OP Development Corporation oversees the design, construction, operating and financing of the city's Convention Center Hotel.
