City Council Action Summary - Dec. 11, 2006
  1. Presented a report from the Committee of the Whole meeting held November 29, 2006, and approved an agreement with A. Nelessen Associates, Inc., for consultant services for visioning of the Metcalf Corridor from I-635 to I-435; Johnson Drive to College Boulevard along Metcalf, in an amount not to exceed $965,036; and Addendum No. 1 to Agreement with A. Nelessen Associates, Inc., for consultant services for the expansion of the Metcalf Corridor visioning process to include the 119th Street and Metcalf area, in an amount not to exceed $147,000.

  2. Presented a report from the Committee of the Whole meeting held December 11, 2006. Approved a Letter of Intent, which sets forth the terms of understanding between Sprint/United Management Company and the City of Overland Park regarding the potential development of certain vacant land owned by Sprint, and the proposed Entertainment District to be located at College and Nall. Also approved a proposed Soccer Park at 135th Street and Switzer, which would rebuild part of St. Andrews Golf Course, reconstruct the skate park on site, develop a plan for youth baseball and adult softball and add parking to cover the soccer park and extra capacity for the Farmstead.

  3. Approved the 2007 State Legislative Program as presented excluding the County Sales Tax issue.

  4. Approved the following Consent Agenda Items:

    1. Agreement with Concentra Health Services, Inc., for wellness assessments for a three-year period of time beginning January 1, 2007, in an amount not to exceed $169,625;

  5. Approved the low bid of $9,060.90 by Banta Publications Group for the 2007 printing of the Overview.

  6. Approved the low bid of $6,851 by B & C, Inc., for 2007 quantitative purchase of stationery.

  7. Continued Ordinance No. B-2649 to the next scheduled City Council meeting.

  8. Approved the bid from Pro Cut Lawn Service for 2007-2008 park mowing in the amount of $134,208.

  9. Approved the bid from S&F/R&R Mowing LLC for 2007-2008 facilities mowing in the amount of $55,434.24.

  10. Approved the bid from Pro Cut Lawn Service for 2007-2008 medians, islands, and easement mowing in the amount of $167,283.20.

  11. Approved the low bid from M&M Golf Cars, LLC for the purchase of all Four Wheel Golf Carts (Items 1 through 4) in the amount of $162,448.98; the low bid from E-Z-Go Kansas City for all Utility Vehicles (Items 5 through 8) in the amount of $95,478; and to reject all bids for Items 9, 10, and 11.

  12. Continued the bid tab process for Golf Course and Park Turf Equipment until further review is done by the Law Department.

  13. Approved the low alternate bid from Van Wall Equipment with trade-in in the amount of $20,538.09 for one loader tractor.

  14. Approved the low bid from Custom Lighting Services, LLC, for the Base Design, Alternate A, Alternate B and Alternate C in the amount of $1,011,808.45 for the traffic control system upgrade for the 119th Street Corridor.

  15. Approved an agreement with the City of Lenexa for the operation and maintenance of traffic signal systems.
