City Council Action Summary - May 10, 2004
  1. Approved the reappointment of Mayor Ed Eilert to the Kansas and Missouri Metropolitan Culture District Commission – Effective January 7, 2003.

  2. Approved the following Consent Agenda Items:

FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – Staff Items –

  1. Capital Projects Expenditure Ordinance No. 5A – Outlining the expenditures from the Capital Projects Funds for April 29 through May 5, 2004;
  2. One application for a new drinking establishment license and one application for renewal of drinking establishment license both contingent upon receiving a state license, as listed on the agenda; and
  3. Request approval to serve alcoholic liquor on public property – Fiorella’s Jack Stack for an event to be held in Corporate Woods Park, September 10, 2004, from 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 pm., for the International Lineman’s Rodeo BBQ.

  1. Approved bid tabulation from APAC – Reno Construction Branch in the amount of $434,364.70 for 159th Intersection improvements from Lamar to Nall.

  2. Cancelled the May 19, 2004, FAED Committee meeting.

  3. Approved closure of the case concerning abatement of a dangerous and unsafe structure located at 9807 Grandview Road.

  4. Approved the bid tabulation from Custom Pine Straw, Inc., in the amount of $14,184 for pine straw mulch for the Parks and Recreation Department – Golf Division.

  5. Approved the following Planning Commission Consent Agenda Items:
    1. Special Event Permit No. 2004-141, located at 10150 Antioch Road, to allow a free-standing banner from May 1, 2004, to June 26, 2004, for Johnson County Christian Church; and
    2. Special Event Permit No. 2004-146, located in the vicinity of Rosehill Street, 135th Street through 138th Street, to allow four free-standing detour signs for the Forest Glen subdivision.

  6. Announced the appointment of Mr. Fred Spears as the new Public Works Committee Vice Chairman.

  7. Held an executive session for the purpose of discussing matters subject to the attorney-client privilege relating to the claim of Mr. Rick Huddleston d/b/a Close Quarters Combat.
