City Council Action Summary - July 14, 2003

  1. Reappointed Charlene Conrad to the Legacy of Greenery Committee.

  2. Heard report from the July 14, 2003, Committee-of-the-Whole meeting, and approved for publication the 2004 Budget, as recommended by the Goal Area Committees, with the exclusion of the Public Safety Committee recommendation for the additional Battalion Chief positions, scheduled a public hearing for the 2004 Budget to be held on August 4, 2003, and scheduled the adoption of the 2004 Budget for August 18, 2003.

  3. Approved the following Consent Agenda items:

    FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: STAFF ITEMS:

    1. Council minutes – June 16, 2003;
    2. Expenditure Ordinance No. 7A – Outlining the expenditures from the General Operating Fund for June 19 through July 2, 2003;
    3. Capital Projects Expenditure Ordinance No. 7B – Outlining the expenditures from the Capital Projects Funds for July 3 through July 9, 2003;
    4. One application for Renewal of Drinking Establishment License, as listed on the agenda;
    5. One application for Renewal of Drinking Establishment License, contingent on receiving state license, as listed on the agenda.

    COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: STAFF ITEMS:

    1. Agreement – George Lund for architectural plans and specifications, in the amount of $6,450, for the construction of a greenhouse at the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

  4. Approved Change Orders for Young’s Pool, vicinity of 77th Street and Antioch as follows:
    1. Change Order No. 1 – Bohl and Associates, in the amount of $20,011.78 for engineering and architectural services;
    2. Change Order No. 1 – Mega Industries Corporation in the amount of $101,728.88 for various construction items.

  5. Accepted low bid from Little Joe’s Asphalt, Inc., in the amount of $75,978.14, for US-69 Bicycle Trail Facility Construction.

  6. Authorized Mayor Eilert to execute the agreement with Affinis Corporation for engineering services for the 2005 Residential Street Program, Part 1: 81st Street, Antioch to Mackey; 81st Street, Goodman to Lowell; 81st Street, Robinson to Conser; 82nd Street, Antioch to Woodward; 82nd Street, Hemlock to Hardy; Goodman, 81st Street to 83rd Street; Lowell, 79th Street to 80th Street; Newton, Santa Fe Drive to 79th Street; Robinson, 79th Street to 80th Street; Woodward, 82nd Street to 83rd Street; and Benson, 77th Street to 79th Street.

  7. Approved Special Event Permit No. 2003-300, 10201 West 127th Street, to allow a banner for a preschool enrollment, for a 30-day period of time.
