Education and Training Support

The information on this site is not meant to be the beginning and the end of our partnership with you to make your emergency plan. Below you will find information about additional support services and training opportunities.

Emergency Planning Support: Our goal is to help you create the best plan for your facility. You are there on a daily basis and best understand the operation, patterns and activities, which occur in your facility each day. Because of this we cannot write the plan for you, but we can help you every step of the way. The information on this CD is intended to get you thinking, help you organize your thoughts and begin the planning process. Along the way you may have questions or you may just get "stuck" with a part of the plan. Please call the Public Education Specialist at 913/888-6066 and let us help. Some questions can be easily answered in a telephone conversation, others require an onsite visit and walk through. We can also be available to assist when you present your plan to facility management.

Emergency Response Team Training: Most organizations present their plan to their employees in written form and it is usually part of their employee manual. Many times employees are responsible to know what is expected of them, but there is an emergency manager or in larger organizations an emergency response team member prepared to remind them and oversee the emergency for their unit, section, floor or building. Whether you call them marshal's, responders, leaders, captains or whatever, they require some additional training to prepare them for the added responsibility. You may have the resources to supply this training but we can help there too. Call our Public Education Specialist at 913/888-6066 for more information about training available to meet the needs of your leaders.

Employee Emergency Training: We can provide a general training that includes information on fire safety and prevention and emergency response. This is intended to give the average employee the tools to plan their action in the event of an emergency and ways they prevent fires and protect fire safety equipment in your building. It does not teach them their precise role in the event of an emergency but rather refers them to the plan, supports and validates it. It can last from 30 minutes to an hour and there is no charge for this class. (Scheduling: Call at least two weeks in advance. Planning a month ahead is suggested.) Call 913/888-6066 to schedule.

Fire Extinguisher Training: We can provide hands on fire extinguisher training at your facility. The training includes a video that demonstrates the skills and shows what you shouldn't do, a lecture that reinforces the key points of the video and hands on use of a fire extinguisher in the parking lot. The average program lasts approximately 45 minutes for about 25 people. There is no cost for the instruction but you will need to supply the fire extinguishers. The fire extinguisher companies usually charge a nominal rental fee and most organizations get them from the company that provide the extinguishers for their facility. The outside portion of this program is not only dependent on the weather but also on wind conditions. We bring the equipment and supplies to create demonstration fires, but you will need to provide a place outside to hold the demonstration. A classroom space with TV/VCR will need to provided for the beginning portion of the class. (Scheduling: This class is weather dependent and is not offered year around. Call at least two weeks in advance to schedule. Planning a month ahead is recommended.) Call 913/888-6066 to schedule.

CPR Training: CPR training is offered for the public and health care workers at our training facility on an alternating monthly basis. You must register ahead of time to attend. A nominal fee is charged to cover instructor costs and supplies. For more information and a schedule call 913/895-8400.

CPR training can be offered at your facility for guaranteed classes of 12 or more. A nominal fee is charged to cover instructor costs and supplies. For more information call 913/895-8400.

Build Your Own Class: We can work with you to develop a training to meet the needs your facility requires. Most of these programs have no charge at all. Call the Public Education Specialist at 913/888-6066 to discuss your needs and ways we can assist you.
