Plan Review staff reviews construction plans and documents for compliance
with the Adopted Building
Codes (Building,
Fire, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Energy Conservation) for all
commercial and residential projects that require issuance of building permits.
Applications for building permits are submitted to the Permits Services Section of the Building Safety Division. Prior to review by city personnel, plans enter the Initial Screening Process (ISP). This is a "quick check" to determine if the plans and information submitted are sufficiently complete for a review to be performed. If not, the applicant will be notified within one or two working days with a list of deficiencies. The plans will not reviewed further until the deficient item(s) have been submitted.
- Timeframe for review of new commercial construction: 15 days
- Timeframe for review of new residential construction: 5 days
