A Plow Removes Snow from an Overland Park RoadNever Fear; Snow Plows Are Near!

Several city departments work together to manage the snow and ice removal program, which costs Overland Park about $1.2 million each year.

Overland Park has a standard schedule for clearing snow and ice from the city's 1,811 lane miles of streets.

With the exception of emergency requests from police, individual requests for snow removal cannot be taken until after major operations have been completed.

Snow or ice problems

  • To report snow or ice problems, submit a help request through Overland Park Cares, the city's customer service system, with a description of the problem, location and any other pertinent information.

Minor car accident

  • If you are involved in a minor car accident during inclement weather (no injuries, cars are drivable and substance abuse is not a factor), "walk in" your report within 48 to 72 hours to the W. Jack Sanders Justice Center, 12400 Foster, or the lower level of the Myron E. Scafe Building, 8500 Antioch.
    • Drivers should exchange correct and valid information: names, addresses, driver license and license plate numbers and insurance information.

During inclement weather, residents can get updates from snowplow drivers and Twitter as well as radar and forecast information from the National Weather Service.
