Snow storm alerts
When the snow and ice hit, we have you covered.
The severity of each snow storm varies. Overland Park uses an alert system to notify personnel of a storm status. Each color represents a level of readiness:

| RED |
An unexpected storm developed requiring immediate call-in of personnel. |
| GRAY |
Main operations have stopped; crews are monitoring and responding to reports of verifiable slick spots. |
| WHITE |
A storm is imminent within the next 1-4 hours; entire shift of on-duty trucks may load with material and station at beginning of routes. |
| BLUE |
Strong possibility of snow or ice conditions within the next 12-24 hours; equipment preparation underway; shifts notified of when to report; first responders may begin pre-treating bridges. |
| YELLOW |
Possible snow or ice predicted within 24-72 hours; snow duty employees and contractors advised to plan accordingly. |
| GREEN |
No adverse winter weather forecasted for the next 24-96 hours. |
