Residential Street Program
The Residential Street Program (RSP) was initiated in 1988 to upgrade more than 40 miles of ditched streets to modern standards found throughout the rest of the city, including storm sewers, curbs, asphalt pavement, driveway approaches, sidewalk and streetlights.
This program has become the centerpiece for the city's revitalization in older, more mature neighborhoods. The city's investment in high-quality public infrastructure has been matched by property owners who have upgraded their properties, resulting in more attractive neighborhoods.
The upgrades are funded by the city's Capital Improvements Program.
Streets to be upgraded in 2010:
- 66th Street, Santa Fe to Lowell
- 66th Terrace, Santa Fe to Lowell
- 60th Terrace, Robinson Lane to Robinson Street
- Robinson Lane, 60th to 61st streets
- Robinson Street, 60th to 61st streets
- Newton, Street, north of 61st Street to the cul-de-sac
- 74th Street, Metcalf to Glenwood
- Mackey Street, 75th Street to Shady Lane
- Shady Lane, Mackey to Hadley
- Hadley Street, 75th Street to Shady Lane
The RSP will end in 2010 when the final streets receive upgrades.
Starting in 2011, a new program, Neighborhood Street Reconstruction, will begin. It will be funded by the renewed 1/8 cent sales tax and will focus on reconstructing other neighborhoods in the city.
