Current Development Overview
Current Planning staff provides advice and information on matters related to zoning and development to residents, neighborhood groups, property owners and developers.
The goal is to ensure a fair and equitable development review process aimed at creating high quality, orderly and sustainable development compatible with the city's land use goals.
Staff also supports the City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Landmarks Commission on land use and development issues; administers the Unified Development Ordinance, which contains zoning and subdivision regulations for the city; and maintains the official zoning map.
Vision Metcalf Form-Based Codes
A new zoning tool to guide the implementation of the Vision Metcalf plan is now under development.
Wind Turbine and Solar Collector Regulations
New wind turbine regulations and updated solar collector regulations are being considered as Overland Park goes "green."
