City Council Committees

Print    Text Size

The City Council has four standing committees that represent the four divisions of the city. Most city business, including the state and national legislative programs, is reviewed by one or more committees before council consideration.

Each councilmember serves on two of the committees, allowing for each committee to have a representative from each ward.

The mayor is an ex officio member of these committees. He appoints the members of standing council committees each year, effective in May.
