Boards and Commissions
Overland Park has several boards and commissions that meet periodically to discuss various topics affecting the city.
Residents are encouraged to serve and/or volunteer on the committees. Appointments are made throughout the year. If you are interested, contact the mayor or your councilmember.
Many of the committees require a special skill set and are noted where applicable.
Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland ParkThe Arts & Recreation Foundation develops and promotes the various parks and recreation facilities and programs that enhance the educational, scientific and cultural experiences of residents and visitors.
Board of Zoning AppealsThe Board of Zoning Appeals considers requests for relief from the requirements of the zoning ordinance and reviews staff interpretations of the zoning ordinance.
CDBG Citizens Advisory CommitteeThe Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory Committee develops recommendations for use of CDBG funds, a federal entitlement program benefiting low and moderate income households.
Civil Service CommissionThe Civil Service Commission reviews, approves and assists the police department in the promotions process for officers below the rank of Captain.
Downtown Overland Park Partnership, Inc.The Downtown Overland Park Partnership, Inc. provides services to and within the Business Improvement District to foster, promote and develop the district's economic potential.
Environmental Advisory CouncilThe Environmental Advisory Council studies environmental issues while supporting and promoting new and existing programs and developing educational programs for the public.
